It’s no secret that we’re fans of destination weddings around here. We’ve traveled the world far and wide to film all kinds of stories, but there is something special that happens during a destination wedding.  Beyond the sights, sounds, and general beauty of the location we find ourselves in, there is a heightened sense of community as a smaller group of loved ones gather to support the bride and groom. Since guests typically arrive a few days in advance, there is also a growing feeling of anticipation and celebration leading up to the big day. Adam & Milena's wedding in Montreal was no exception.

We originally met the pair in Toronto when we did their engagement shoot in High Park, and also found out that we’re practically our neighbours. They say good people keep good company, and that was certainly true of these two. In the short time we got to know them as a guest at their shoot, we had nothing but good vibes and crossed our fingers with the hopes that we would be able to tell a great story for them in the near future.

The bride and family started the morning off at an amazing Air BnB filled with Street Fighter art (created by the owners of the home and a few Mario themed paintings, too. Every one looked stunning and we were introduced to a few Romanian traditions, to boot. Did we mention it was also nerd art heaven?

The groom and groomsmen got ready at his brothers. What was neat, was that it was full of old mementos from their grandparents (Including a fencing sword! En Garde!).

The ceremony was held at the Romanian Orthodox Church of "The Annunciation” where we experienced a traditional orthodox wedding and are still a little jealous of the crowns.

We then headed over to Parc Jean Drape on St. Helens Island for some photos and then to the Jamaican Pavilion for the reception. The venue was absolutely beautiful; situated next to a river and stunning gardens. The reception was heartfelt, intimate and had a lot of Pinterest-y personal touches which we absolutely loved.

We had an incredible time celebrating with Milena & Adam. What was true from the destination weddings we’ve shot in the past was also true for them—the overwhelming feeling of anticipation, celebration, and sense of community abounded—and the sights, sounds, and beauty of Montreal were simply an added bonus.
